I like Free Chess Lessons, but currently most of the the chess lessons are targeted at lower rated chess players. However there are also lessons for the intermediate and advanced player. Strangely enough one of my favorites is called A typical beginner's game, which is intended for intermediate players.

How to get to 1900
John Coffey has created a website with a lot of tactical exercises, tactics and endgame lessons. He states that you can rise above your current level by studying the right things and that the same principles apply to all levels of players. This site, how to get to 1900, is targeted at players with different ratings, starting from beginners up to players with a 1900 rating.
It's probably the most interesting for players around 1500 or 1600.
Just have a look.

The key to chess improvement is pattern recognition. Whether you realize it or not, to improve at chess you must reprogram your brain to see things that you did not see before. You can do this by studying at least 30 minutes of tactics per day. I provide 1,500 simple tactics problems for you to study, plus I also recommend some of the best tactics books.
